The Simple Joys of Summer in Ripley

Summer in Ripley moves at a different pace, which is exactly what makes it special. While life may seem to slow down during the warmer months, there’s still plenty happening around town. From seasonal menus to check out to our favorite community traditions, here’s our guide to making the most of summer in Ripley.

Shop, Sip, and Savor the Season

Start your morning browsing the latest arrivals at Ravishing Ruby Boutique, where you’ll find stylish summer outfits, shoes, handbags, and accessories that are perfect for everything from vacations to weekends at the fair. Just a few stops away, Rip Jax Mercantile is stocked with specialty items and unique finds that make for the perfect souvenirs or gifts.

When you’re ready for a break from the browsing, cool off and reenergize with a specialty tea from Rip-Town Nutrition or one of the Brew LLC’s seasonal drinks from their summer menu. If you’re craving something fruity, frozen, caffeinated, or decaffeinated, these two spots are some of our favorites for beating the Mississippi heat.

Lunchtime calls for a stop at Better Batter Sisters, where homemade sandwiches like chicken salad, turkey clubs, BLTs, and pimento cheese make for an easy summer meal. Our favorite stop for a summertime dinner is at the Cardinal Drive-Thru, where you can enjoy classics like a burger, fries, and vanilla milkshake. Summer doesn’t get much sweeter than that!

Special Events This Summer

Even though the heat has us all moving a little slower, the community always jumps on an excuse to gather. This summer has already brought everyone together for movie nights at the Cut-Off and another successful First Monday Trade Day, where shoppers explored hundreds of vendors, local businesses, and one-of-a-kind finds in one of the Mid-South’s favorite traditions.

And the biggest event of the summer is yet to come!

From July 31st through August 8th, the 81st Annual Tippah County Fair & Livestock Show returns with rodeos, pageants, livestock competitions, concerts, daily entertainment, delicious fair food, and plenty of opportunities to make lasting summer memories. It’s one of those traditions that brings generations together year after year for a reason.

The summer fun continues with the next Ripley’s First Monday Trade Days on August 1st and 2nd, making it the perfect excuse to spend a summer weekend shopping local, exploring downtown, and experiencing some of Ripley’s favorite traditions.

Slow Down and Stay Awhile

Not every summer excursion has to be fast-paced and packed from sunrise to sunset. Sometimes the best memories come from wandering downtown, treating yourself to a new outfit or lunch with friends, and ending the evening at a community event. That’s what summer in Ripley is all about!
